This October, LINCOLN’s own Chef Demetrio Zavala became DC’s hometown hero when he competed in The Food Network’s new “Chopped” tournament. Several chefs competed to earn a spot in the finale, and one champion – our very own Executive Chef Demetrio Zavala – was awarded the opportunity to cook head-to-head against Bobby Flay.
The Washington Post reported back in June that our Miami-raised Executive Chef is poised to join the growing ranks of Washington, DC’s chef-lebrities: Mike Isabella, the Voltaggio brothers (Bryan and Michael), and the Georgetown Cupcake sisters (Katherine Berman and Sophie LaMontagne). The Food Network recently did a one-on-one interview with our Executive Chef (read the full interview here), where Chef Zavala explained how he won two rounds of “Chopped”:
“Think about all the chefs in this world. Some chefs separate themselves by being different and unique. You have to be unique and have your own niche.”
