According to The Food Network, Our Chef Demetrio’s dish was “a total touchdown.”

This October, LINCOLN’s own Chef Demetrio Zavala became DC’s hometown hero when he competed in The Food Network’s new “Chopped” tournament. Several chefs competed to earn a spot in the finale, and one champion – our very own Executive Chef Demetrio Zavala – was awarded the opportunity to cook head-to-head against Bobby Flay.

CQ3103_Bobby-Flay-Demetrio_s4x3.jpg.rend.snigalleryslideThe Washington Post reported back in June that our Miami-raised Executive Chef is poised to join the growing ranks of Washington, DC’s chef-lebrities: Mike Isabella, the Voltaggio brothers (Bryan and Michael), and the Georgetown Cupcake sisters (Katherine Berman and Sophie LaMontagne). The Food Network recently did a one-on-one interview with our Executive Chef (read the full interview here), where Chef Zavala explained how he won two rounds of “Chopped”:

“Think about all the chefs in this world. Some chefs separate themselves by being different and unique. You have to be unique and have your own niche.”

Come experience his unique flavors and culinary creativity firsthand at LINCOLN in DC’s Penn Quarter. You will love how Chef Demetrio brings together the seasonal best for his own spin on small-plates dining. Explore his unique approach by checking out some of our menus.

Appearing on “Chopped” has inspired Chef Zavala to refine his craft even further.

“After my first appearance on the show, I got up at 5am to train with a pastry chef. I wanted my desserts to be on-point.”

You can watch Demetrio’s first two episodes of the “Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay” tournament on The Food Network. Catch the finale, where Chef Zavala cooks against Bobby Flay, on Thursday October 27 at 9/8 Central.

On “Chopped” Chef Demetrio had to cook with a set basket of ingredients, some of them as unique as lutefisk or chocolate-covered onion. Imagine what he can do with the seasonal best from DC’s local farmers, fishers and purveyors.
